Special Event Clearways And Road Closures

What is a Special Event Clearway?

No vehicles (residents, permit holders and visitors) are to be parked along special event clearways. Special event clearways are enforceable by the Police and Transport for NSW and an additional penalty will be imposed if the vehicle is towed away. Please check local signage before parking. Any vehicle parked in a special event clearway can be towed, with additional fees applying to towed vehicles. Contact the NSW Transport Management Centre on 132 701 if you believe your vehicle has been towed.

What is a Road Closure?

Roads are closed to all vehicular traffic to cater for the New Years Eve celebrations. Road closures affect both directions unless stated otherwise. Roads will be progressively closed and re-opened by Council, Transport for NSW and Police after clearing. Road re-opening times are subject to Police discretion.

What to expect on New Years Eve

Roads in the vicinity of Woollahra Municipal Council will begin closing at 3pm and will remain closed until 2am.

Private and commercial residents located within road closures are asked to arrange food and other deliveries in advance, before road closure times.

Police may restrict vehicle access along closed roads, including for residents and businesses.

Special Event Clearways will be in place between 8am and 2pm. Motorists are advised to check signs before parking as vehicles in Special Event Clearways will be towed and fines apply. Important: Holders of resident parking schemes and disability parking permits are not exempt from Special Event Clearways and towing.

Patrons attending New Year’s Eve are advised to use public transport and plan their travel in advance. Additional services will be in operation. The closest transport hub is Edgecliff Station.

Patrons are advised the travel route they take to New Year’s Eve celebrations may be different to the travel route they take to depart due to crowd management arrangements. For timetables, maps and trip planning visit www.transportnsw.info.

Road closures, Special Event Clearways and one-way roads will be in place at Darling Point, Point Piper, Rose Bay, Vaucluse and Watson’s Bay from Tuesday 31 December to early Wednesday 1 January 2025 for New Year’s Eve.
