Winners announced for 2024 Youth Photographic Award & Short Film Prize

Congratulations to all our 2024 photographic and short film winners!

Impressive technical skill and artistic vision, playful and captivating imagery and imaginative visual effects typify the winning entries in Woollahra Council’s 2024 Youth Photographic Award and Short Film Prize.

More than 180 photo and short film entries were submitted by students from 12 different high schools for the annual competition.

Celebrating its 31 year anniversary in 2024, The Youth Photographic Award and Short Film Prize showcases the talent of young aspiring photographers and filmmakers, providing an opportunity to reach a broader audience and win cash prizes from a total pool of $3,350.

Photographic entries were judged by photographer, artist and thought leader on creative intelligence - Alina Gozin’a, while short film entries were judged by film director, editor and cinematographer - Luke Doolan.

The Winners

Winners received their awards at a special presentation ceremony held at Woollahra Gallery at Redleaf on 24 October.

The Senior Photography Prize was awarded to Inner Sydney High School student Adaiah Martens for the work Perspective; Joshua Hasanoff of Reddam House was awarded the Junior Photography Prize for Broken Birthday. Inner Sydney High School student Neeah Taylor's The Twin Effect received the Special Category: Collage Prize.

Loneliness by Tyler Gruenpeter from Reddam House received the Mayor’s Choice Award Senior category and Awaken by Luca Holdcroft from Reddam House won the Mayor’s Choice Award Junior category.

The Short Film Prize went to SCEGGS Darlinghurst student Bianca Rozsa for her film Tomber to Fall.

Don't miss the Youth Photographic Award and Short Film Prize Exhibition

The winning photos and films, together with all of this year's entries, are now on display at Woollahra Gallery at Redleaf.

The free exhibition will run until 10 November 2024 at the Woollahra Gallery at Redleaf, with all entries available to view online through the Gallery’s website.

Woollahra Gallery is open Wednesday 1 - 6pm, Thursday to Friday 10am - 6pm and Saturday and Sunday 10am - 5pm at 548 New South Head Road, Double Bay. Admission is free.

Vote for the Viewers' Choice Award

Voting for the $150 Viewers' Choice Award is open until midnight on 10 November 2024, giving members of the public the opportunity to vote for their favourite photo via the Woollahra Gallery at Redleaf website. The winner will be announced on Monday 11 November.

Botanical Cyanotypes

Saturday, 9 November 2024 | 9:30 AM to 12:30 PM

Join us at Woollahra Gallery at Redleaf for this intergenerational workshop to discover the exciting world of cyanotype printing. Participants will go home with a unique print immortalising the distinct beauty of the Australian bush. This is an intergenerational event - all ages welcome.
