National Recycling Week is coming up (11-17 November) and what better way to celebrate than by coming along to the next Recycle It Saturday event on 23 November.

We want to thank the Woollahra, City of Sydney and Waverley Council residents who have attended our quarterly drop-off events since February 2022 and helped to divert more than 197.7 tonnes from landfill!

This figure includes:

  • 122.7 tonnes of ewaste
  • 1.9 tonnes of household batteries
  • 1.2 tonnes of lightbulbs
  • 28.7 tonnes of clothing
  • 1.2 tonnes of polystyrene
  • 1.6 tonnes xrays
  • 4.8 tonnes of gas bottles
  • 12.5 tonnes bulky cardboard
  • 2 tonnes of bicycles

… and lots more!

Read about what happens to some of these items once you drop them off.

By dropping off your old batteries, gas bottles, lightbulbs and ewaste you are helping to keep our waste truck drivers safe and preventing hazardous materials leaching into our environment in landfill.

Items like clothes, small hard toys and bicycles are re-used or on-sold by local charity organisations.

So think before you throw during your next spring clean. Check if your unwanted items can be dropped off at Recycle It Saturday and keep them out of landfill.

Some of the other items we accept include:

  • X-ray film
  • Mobile phones
  • Linen and small hard toys (no books) in great condition, suitable for second hand sale
  • Small metal items like pots and pans, cutlery, coat hangers
  • Aluminium coffee pods.
