New power pole EV chargers

Electric vehicle (EV) owners can now access even more public charging options with the introduction of new power pole mounted EV chargers.

21 new power pole chargers have been installed across the eastern beaches, as part of a 12-month trial led by provider Intellihub, with funding from the Australian Government. The chargers are powered by 100% accredited GreenPower (renewable energy from government accredited sources).

Mayor of Woollahra Richard Shields said providing easy access to kerbside public chargers was essential to encouraging people to make the switch to EVs and lowering our carbon emissions.

“More than 70% of Woollahra residents live in apartments, townhouses or terraces and have difficulty charging at home,” the Mayor said.

“These new chargers are a simple but smart way to increase EV charging options in the east, both for residents and our many visitors.

“The new chargers have already been used hundreds of times since installation, demonstrating the strong demand,” he said.
