We are so excited to announce that the Lyne Park Playground in Rose Bay is now open for play! The first stage of the Lyne Park Playground Upgrade project has been completed, with the exception of the flying boat which is expected to arrive late 2024.

Works commenced on the Lyne Park Playground in January 2024, with the upgrade transforming this precious open space to provide a range of new recreational uses for the community. The new playground provides inclusive, imaginative and flexible recreational experiences for all ages and abilities.

The new accessible playground has some exciting new play equipment along with tables and benches that accommodate wheelchairs.

We are grateful for the strong interest and participation we received from the community during consultation and your feedback has helped shape these improvements.

Kids will love the new play equipment, including:

  • Double flying fox
  • Four bay swing with seven types of swings suitable for a variety of ages and abilities
  • Sensory area with xylophone, drums and mirror

  • Water-play zone

  • Nature play area for older children and inter-generational recreational experience

  • Bike track with bridge

  • Pirate ship

  • A flying boat - a playful nod to the site’s history as the former Rose Bay International Airport - for climbing, piloting and imaginative play. This will be installed into the playground towards the end of 2024.

With Stage A of the upgrade project now complete, our team will now get started on Stage B which includes construction of an intergenerational activity trail, seating, indigenous elements and more. This final stage is due to be completed by late 2024, weather permitting. More info about the upgrade project.
