Woollahra Council has awarded community organisations, schools, businesses and individuals from across the Woollahra Local Government Area a total of $260,000 in funding through its Grants Program.

The projects will make important contributions to the ongoing development of the Woollahra community, and benefit both local residents and visitors to the area.

The Grants Program supports projects that work towards a connected, liveable, creative and sustainable community, with funding available in the categories of Community and Cultural, Environmental, Placemaking and Business Sector Support.

The 52 successful recipients will use grant funding to develop projects including initiatives supporting sustainability in schools, increasing mental wellbeing in the community, delivering green energy to community organisations, youth-led community events and connecting local businesses.

Community and Cultural grants provide support for projects that contribute to a vibrant and creative community, while Environmental grants aim to support local schools and not-for-profit community organisations to implement sustainability projects.

Placemaking grants provide funding for events and activities that activate and enhance public spaces, and Business Sector Support Grants assist organisations with initiatives that support businesses and local economic development.

Small grants of up to $3,000 were available to individuals, community groups, community organisations (not-for-profits and charities) and businesses; and large grants of between $3,001 and $7,500 available to businesses, community organisations and community groups. Business Sector Support grants were available for up to $10,000 per organisation.

"Congratulations and thank you to all of the grant recipients for their commitment to our community," Woollahra Mayor Richard Shields said.

"I am delighted that we have been able to provide funding support for so many worthwhile projects, which I am confident will make a real difference to our residents and also visitors to our area, and look forward to the positive impact they will have over the coming year."
