Launched during the History Council of NSW's History Week 2021 under the theme "From the Ground Up," the "Woollahra's Historic Landscapes" exhibition invites you to explore the rich history of our local landscapes. This collection, continually growing with community contributions, offers a captivating look at the transformations that have shaped Woollahra.

Access via the Woollahra Libraries Digital Archive

The exhibition includes a gallery of images from Edgecliff in the 1960s, depicting a landscape poised for change with the arrival of the Eastern Suburbs Railway and the redevelopment of church-owned land. It also highlights the early 20th-century development of Bellevue Hill, showcasing the construction of key roads and offering a glimpse into the creation of the suburb we know today.

Additionally, explore the forgotten history of horticulture in Double Bay, where market gardens once thrived, nurseries flourished, and the area was celebrated for its grand estates.

We encourage you to share your own memories, stories, and images of places in Woollahra that hold special significance to you, helping to enrich our understanding of the local area.

Visit the Woollahra Libraries Digital Archive to delve into these historic landscapes and contribute to the ongoing story of Woollahra's heritage.
