Planning an event in the Woollahra Local Government Area? You've come to the right place!

Here are some useful resources and guidelines for planning and promoting your event in Woollahra.

NSW Event Starter Guide and safety tips

Before you start your event: the NSW government starter guide is a comprehensive manual that helps you navigate all the areas of effective event management. Read it here(PDF, 165KB).

The Australian Government's Safe and Healthy Crowded Places Handbook outlines nationally agreed principles for safe and healthy crowded places. Read it here.

Accessible and inclusive events

When planning an event, it is a legal requirement to consider the access needs of people with a disability. With more than 20% of the NSW population living with disability, making your event accessible is also an important commercial decision. Promoting an event’s focus on accessibility may also be an attractive prospect for supporting partners or sponsors.

The NSW Government's Toolkit for accessible and inclusive events(PDF, 2MB) aims to assist event organisers in creating an event that is accessible to all members of the community.

Events Policy and Strategy

Events Policy and Strategy

Our Events Policy and Strategy provides a clear framework to guide the planning, delivery, and evaluation of events over the next four years. It reflects our commitment to delivering high-quality, inclusive, and purposeful events that support community wellbeing, celebrate culture, and generate meaningful social and economic outcomes.

The strategy is underpinned by four key strategic pillars:

1. Enhance Community Lifestyle and Culture

Supporting events that reflect our diverse community, celebrate local identity, and contribute to a vibrant cultural life.

2. Increase Local Social and Economic Benefits

Leveraging events to stimulate the local economy, attract visitation, and create positive social impacts for residents and businesses.

3. Foster Partnerships and Collaboration

Building strong relationships with community groups, businesses, and event organisers to encourage co-creation, shared value, and sustainable event delivery.

4. Drive Excellence and Continuous Improvement

Ensuring events are professionally delivered through consistent standards, good governance, and a focus on innovation and continuous learning.

Each of these pillars is supported by targeted actions that will promote community wellbeing, enhance professionalism and good governance, and maximise partnership and collaboration opportunities - ultimately delivering exceptional event experiences and long-term benefits for our community.
