NSW Police will be out in force this New Year's Eve to reduce crime and violence and to ensure everyone in New South Wales can enjoy the New Year's Eve celebrations in a safe and secure environment.
Police safety messages are:
- Do not drink and drive. Catch public transport, call the public transport infoline on 131 500 for more information
- Do not drink alcohol in the designated Alcohol Free Zones (AFZ) within the Woollahra and Waverley Local Government Areas. Police can issue on-the-spot fines to persons breaching this requirement
- Intoxicated patrons who refuse to stop drinking alcohol in local licensed premises or who fail to quit premises will be prosecuted. Anti-social behaviour will not be accepted
- It is a community responsibility that the drinking of alcohol occurs in moderation ensuring a safe occasion is had by all
- Drinking responsibly starts with the individual.
