Come along on a guided walking tour through the streets of Double Bay, exploring the suburb’s history and heritage.

A guided walking tour through the streets of Double Bay, exploring the stories of the people and places of its past. The tour will be led by members of the Library staff, who will share historic images and background information to illustrate how surviving heritage can reveal our history.

This tour is part of the History Council of NSW’s annual History Week, which in 2024 takes as its theme ‘Marking time’.

Please note:

  • This tour will begin and end at Woollahra Library at Double Bay. Please arrive at 10.15am at our assembly point at the top of the escalators at the Library’s entrance.
  • The tour will be enhanced by a Tour Guide’s audio system (hearing loop compatible). Headphones are supplied, but BYO headphones if preferred.
  • Please wear appropriate footwear for a 2 hour walk and consider what items you might need for the weather conditions on the day.
  • Please bring water.
  • Walk includes moderate changes of grade.
  • There will be no toilets available until the end of the route.

Should extreme weather conditions cause a cancellation on 4 September, the tour will be held on Wednesday 18 September, 10.30am - 12.30pm.
