Woollahra Council has an established Local Planning Panel, known as the Woollahra Local Planning Panel (WLPP) which assesses and determines development applications and provides advice to Council on planning proposals and other matters.
The Woollahra Local Planning Panel was established in February 2018 under the provisions of Part 2, Division 2.5 of the Environmental Planning and Assessment Act 1979.
The Panel comprises of four (4) members:
- an independent chair,
- two (2) independent experts, and
- a community representative.
The chair and the two (2) experts have been appointed by Council, selected from a pool of independent persons approved by the Minister. The community representatives are not approved by the Minister but are appointed by the Council.
Woollahra Council has resolved to seek expressions of interest for a number of community representatives to represent the Woollahra Local Government Area.
Selection criteria
We are looking for local community representatives who satisfy the following selection criteria:
- are current residents within the LGA;
- have an understanding of the LGA and issues of concern to the local community;
- have the capacity to form independent views and to contribute constructively to the determination of applications;
- are able to demonstrate a basic level of understanding of the planning system, i.e. knowledge of the Council’s local environmental plan, development control plan, local strategic planning statement or community strategic plan; and
- are committed to following the Code of Conduct for Local Planning Panel Members and the Local Planning Panels Operational Procedures, attending local planning panel meetings and completing panel business in the required timeframes.
