- Project typePlayground upgrade
- Project scheduleThe playground re-opened on Wednesday 14 August
Background
Works commenced on the Lyne Park Playground Upgrade on Monday 15 January 2024. The upgrade will see this precious open space provide a range of new recreational uses for the community.
The new playground will provide inclusive, imaginative and flexible recreational experiences for all ages and abilities.
To enable the works to be delivered safely, the reserve was closed for approximately six months from Monday 15 January.
Playground upgrade works (Stage A) was completed by mid August 2024 with the playground re-opening on Wednesday 14 August 2024, with the exception of the flying boat which is expected to land soon! We will keep you updated on completion of the final stages of the playground construction.
Stage B is scheduled for completion in late 2024.

Concept design
We are grateful for the strong interest and participation we received from the community during consultation and your feedback has helped shape these improvements.
Works will include new play equipment such as:
• Double flying fox
• Four bay swing with seven types of swings suitable for a variety of ages and abilities
• Sensory walkway
• Water play zone
• Nature play area for older children and inter-generational recreational experiences
• A flying boat - a playful nod to the site’s history as the former Rose Bay International Airport - for climbing, piloting and imaginative play. This will be installed into the playground soon.
