Draft Woollahra Development Control Plan 2015 (Amendment No.2)

Summary

Council has undertaken a review of Chapter B3 General Development Controls of the Woollahra Development Control Plan 2015. The review represents a culmination of discussion and workshops between Councillors, Council’s planning staff and design professionals. The review has informed amendments to Chapter B3 aimed to create a control set which:

  • Is easy for applicants to understand
  • Is expressed in simple language
  • Allows a site’s development yield to be easily calculated
  • Provides an effective assessment framework for staff
  • Allows development compliance to be easily determined

Key amendments proposed included:

  • Amended objectives to encourage and facilitate design excellence
  • Simplified front, side and rear building setback controls
  • Clarification of possible variations to the inclined plane and wall height controls
  • Replacement of the “floorplate” control with a “footprint” control
  • Amended excavation controls to clarify inclusions to volumetric calculations, and clarify basement wall side setbacks
  • Minor amendments to acoustic privacy, on-site parking, landscaping, fence and battle-axe lot controls

Initial Assessment

A report(PDF, 24MB) on the public exhibition of Draft Woollahra Development Control Plan 2015 (Amendment No 2) was considered by the Urban Planning Committee on 27 March 2017.

At the meeting of 10 April 2017 Council approved(PDF, 420KB) Woollahra Development Control Plan 2015 (Amendment No 2).
